John P. Nealon,
Director, Information Technology Division


John Nealon has served as the Director of the Information Technology Division and Chief Information Officer for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) since January 2001. In this capacity, he is responsible for ensuring information technology services are deployed throughout NASS so that timely, accurate and useful agricultural statistics are developed and disseminated.

Prior to serving as Chief Information Officer, Nealon worked in a variety of assignments throughout NASS, which include tours in the Research and Development Division, the North Carolina Field Office, the Census and Survey Division and the Statistics Division, before joining the Information Technology Division.

Nealon was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He earned a Master's degree in Statistics from North Carolina State University. Prior to his graduate studies, Nealon received undergraduate degrees in Engineering and Mathematics from the University of Scranton. Nealon lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife, Trista, and their three-year old son, Jack.
