Renee Picanso
Director, Census and Survey Division
Renee Picanso serves as Director of NASS’s Census and Survey Division (CSD). In this position she oversees the USDA’s Census of Agriculture, Survey Administration, Survey Sampling, Data Collection, and List Frame activities.
Picanso grew up in North Carolina and Texas and graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. degree in Agricultural Economics. Her career with NASS began as a statistician in the Arkansas Field Office. She then served as a statistician in the Tennessee and Texas Field Offices, as the Deputy Director in the Indiana Field Office and as Director in the Colorado Field Office. Her headquarters experience includes working as a statistician in the Statistics Division, and as an assistant to former NASS Administrator, Charles Caudill.
Prior to assuming her current role, Picanso served for two years as the Special Assistant to Administrator Cynthia Clark and was responsible for overseeing strategic planning, performance measurement, continuous process improvement, outreach, and special projects for the agency.
Picanso is a 2004 graduate of USDA’s Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program and was detailed to the U.S. Census Bureau from November 2003 to March 2004.
