NASS Discontinues Monthly Tobacco Price Estimates
WASHINGTON, July 28, 2005 - USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will no longer publish monthly price estimates for tobacco in the monthly Agricultural Prices reports beginning on July 29, 2005 . Due to the "tobacco buyout," which was part of the American Jobs Creation Act of 2004, price data previously provided by other USDA agencies will no longer be available. Marketing year average prices will continue to be published in the January Agricultural Prices, February Crop Values, and May Crop Production reports.
