USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will release new data on horticultural operations’ irrigation practices on Thursday, Feb. 11 at 3 p.m. ET. The information was collected as part of the 2008 Farm and Ranch Irrigation Survey (FRIS).
NASS will publish state- and national-level information on horticultural operations’ irrigation area under protection and in the open, quantity of water applied, method of water application, and other water related data on horticultural specialty operations
The FRIS is a follow-on to the 2007 Census of Agriculture and expands upon the basic irrigation data collected in the census. NASS included horticultural specialty farms in the FRIS for the first time in 2008.
