NASS To Update Winter Wheat Forecast In June
Issued
May 23, 2007 by the National Agricultural Statistics Service,
Agricultural Statistics Board, U.S. Department of Agriculture.
For information, contact Jeff Geuder at (202) 720-2127.
Due to freezing temperatures that occurred during April,
the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural
Statistics Service (NASS) will ask Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois,
Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina,
South Carolina and Tennessee farm operators who are selected
to participate in the June Agricultural Yield Survey to update
their winter wheat acreage expected to be harvested for grain.
Any reported changes will be reflected in the June Crop Production report, to be released June 11. The report will include an updated yield and production forecast for winter wheat based on both producer-reported data and on actual plant and fruit counts from fields sampled as part of the Objective Yield Survey.
