The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) released a Dairy Product Prices Special Report today at 3 p.m. EDT.
In April 2007, NASS confirmed and publicly reported that a dairy product plant made errors in its weekly reporting of price data for nonfat dry milk. In response, the agency clarified the reporting guidelines and asked 39 plants nationwide to verify and, if necessary, revise weekly prices and sales volumes reported between April 29, 2006 and April 14, 2007.
During the verification process, five firms made revisions to previously reported data. This resulted in changes, published in today’s report, ranging from -0.8 to 8.5 cents per pound in the weekly average prices of nonfat dry milk between April 2006 and April 2007.
