NASS Announces Change to Objective Yield Survey
Issued July 23, 2009 by the Agricultural Statistics Board of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Statistics Service. For more information contact Lance Honig at (202) 720-2127 or lance_honig@nass.usda.gov.
The National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will no longer collect field data for spring and Durum wheat as part of its Objective Yield Survey program. Previously, the agency measured spring wheat production in selected fields in Minnesota, Montana and North Dakota, and Durum wheat production in North Dakota, beginning in late July.
NASS will continue to survey producers about their expected spring and Durum wheat acreage, yield and production and will publish this data in the August Crop Production report and the September Small Grains Summary. These and all NASS reports are available online at www.nass.usda.gov.
