CALIFORNIA: Shipments through September 5 total 6,357,000
bushel equivalents, over 30 percent more than last season's reduced
crop. Two months remain in the marketing season with a total crop
of 6,430,000 bushel equivalents expected.
Estimated shipments through August total almost 460,000
bushels, the most in many seasons. Summer varieties are heavy set
and good demand is reported. Bearing acres is estimated at 6,100, the
most since before Hurricane Andrew in 1992.
