FLORIDA: The forecast of avocados for certified shipments is maintained at 950,000 bushels. This is 13 percent more than the 843,000 bushels shipped last season, and the most since the 1,111,000 bushels shipped in the 1991-92 season.

    Estimated shipments through October total 768,600 bushels, ahead of all the seasons in the series. Summer varieties were heavy set with fall and winter varieties more light set. Weekly shipments
are declining. Bearing acreage is estimated at 6,100, the most since before Hurricane Andrew in 1992.

CALIFORNIA: Estimated total shipments for the just completed 1999-00 season total 6,859,000 bushel equivalents, the most since the very large 1992-93 season. Estimated shipments for the 2000-01 season which begins November 1 is 8,308,000 bushel equivalents, 21 percent more than the previous season.
