FLORIDA: The forecast of avocados for certified shipments is continued at
950,000 bushels. This is five percent less than the 1,005,000 bushels
shipped in the previous season. This is, however, the second largest amount
since the 1,111,000 bushels shipped in the 1991-92 season.

  Estimated shipments through October total 712,500 bushels, slightly less
than last season to the same time. Bearing acreage is estimated at 5,900
acres, slightly less than last season. No loss of fruit or damage to trees
was reported as a result of Hurricane Michelle which passed well to the
south of Homestead.

CALIFORNIA: Estimated total shipments for the 2000-01 season just completed
are 8,705,000 bushel equivalents. The forecast of shipments for the 2001-02
season is 7,948,000 bushel equivalents, slightly less than last season.
