FLORIDA: The forecast of avocados for certified shipments is decreased from
950,000 to 900,000 bushels. This is the only change in the projected amount
of shipments since the initial forecast in August. If realized, this will
be about ten percent less than was shipped last season but more than the
previous two.

  Estimated shipments through November total almost 800,000 bushels with
three months to go in the marketing season. No loss of
fruit or damage to trees was reported from Hurricane Michelle in October.
Some fruit scarring, however, is reported from slightly higher than ususal
winds.

CALIFORNIA: Shipments for the first month of the marketing season (2001-02)
are reported at 212,000 bushel equivalents, nearly twice the amount of last
season's first month. Expected shipments for the entire season are less
than the previous season.

    FLORIDA: Estimated certified shipments of avocados, 2001-02 season,
