County Estimates - 1991 to 1996

Sincere appreciation is extended to the thousands of Florida Dairymen and Ranchers who provided the basic information from which these estimates were prepared. Their cooperation insures accurate estimates. Several points are important to keep in mind when using this data.
First, the county estimates are as of January 1. Throughout the year, individual county inventory numbers will fluctuate as a result of marketings, births, deaths, and physical movement of cattle from one county to another. Second, the categories need to be defined. Total cattle and calves (the first table below) represent all classes, both beef and dairy. The beef cow category (the second table below) represents only the production brood cows which have calved at least once and are used for the production of beef. Third, some county totals are not published. As with all of our estimates, great care is taken to insure against publishing totals that disclose individual operations.
The tables below present the 1991-1996 series after revisions based upon check data and the 1992 Agricultural Census conducted by the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Census.
