DISTRICT 2 - NORTH CENTRAL Cold temperatures this week - major activity is routine care of livestock and poultry. DISTRICT 3 - NORTHEAST No comments available. DISTRICT 4 - WEST CENTRAL No comments available. DISTRICT 5 - CENTRAL Cold and windy. Heavy hay feeding continues for livestock and hay is getting in really short supply. It has been cold and rather rainy over the past week. Cattle producers have been feeding more hay than normal due to a lack of winter grazing. Recent moisture has helped the wheat, rye and oat fields here. DISTRICT 6 - EAST CENTRAL Small grain being top-dressed. More corn contracts being sought and many farmers watching soybean prices for contract possibilities. More rain. Cooler temperatures. DISTRICT 7 - SOUTHWEST Wheat growth is ahead of schedule Livestock conditions good Feed supply adequate. DISTRICT 8 - SOUTH CENTRAL Spraying wheat for weed. Land preparation, spreading lime and working on equipment. Still need more rain to get creeks flowing and build up pond levels and sub surface water levels. Cloudy and cool weather but no rainfall will leave soils very short on subsoil moisture for the 2007 crop year. We need a lot of winter rainfall to replenish our depleted surface and subsoil moisture. Some field preparation work is beginning as well as farm management planning meetings being conducted. Moisture conditions are fairly constant. DISTRICT 9 - SOUTHEAST No comments available.
