DISTRICT 2 - NORTH CENTRAL No comments available. DISTRICT 3 - NORTHEAST No comments available. DISTRICT 4 - WEST CENTRAL Producers are starting to put insecticide and fungicide applications on soybeans. Some dryland cotton has shut down. We received some much needed rain on the night of 8/12 and during the day on 8/13. One good rain over most folks last week is helping keep soil moisture from diminishing any further. Farmers trying to get in hay from Bermuda seeding out way too early b/t cuts. Soybeans in mostly good shape. DISTRICT 5 - CENTRAL Got some good rain! Most areas of the county had 1-2 inches. Pasture and hayfield conditions improving slightly due to rain. It has been very dry and our crops need rainfall. Scattered rains. Pastures and hayfields greening up. Good rains fell Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. 2.5 to 3 inches fell over most of the county. Drought stress was peaking just ahead of this rain. This rain helped pastures and hayfields. DISTRICT 6 - EAST CENTRAL Finally got a good general rain...absolutely saved the double cropped soybeans and did wonders for peanuts and cotton trying to set fill pods/bolls. Grass will take a while to recover....continued droughts have added to Bahia grass and weed infestation in hayfields and pastures that got thin. Corn harvest will really crank up this week. Early yields are coming in at 200-230 bushels, 19-20% moisture. Stinkbug numbers have decreased and we have very little worm pressure in cotton, peanuts or soybeans. Scattered showers on Wednesday. Hope some more from Tropical Storm Fay! DISTRICT 7 - SOUTHWEST Good rainfall throughout the county. One to 3 inches. Average rains this week over the entire county averaging 2 inches provided relief to all crops in heavy reproduction stage. DISTRICT 8 - SOUTH CENTRAL Getting much needed rainfall but still not enough to fill up ponds or replenish subsoil moisture. Spraying cotton, peanuts and soybeans for worms, applying boron and fungicides and spraying for stink bugs on cotton. Cutting hay between showers and irrigation of crops if needed. Tobacco harvest is in full swing and crop in general looks to be good. Rains bring huge relief! We have receive about one inch of rain over the county, the southern part got more! The crops are looking very good at this stage of production. Rain has delayed corn harvest this week. Nobody is complaining too loud over it. DISTRICT 9 - SOUTHEAST Good rainfall this week, county wide.
