DISTRICT 2 - NORTH CENTRAL Spotty thunderstorms improved soil moisture in some areas while other parts of the county remained very dry. DISTRICT 3 - NORTHEAST Rain just not frequent enough to offset drought conditions. Forages, landscapes, and hay continue to suffer. DISTRICT 4 - WEST CENTRAL Need a little rain. Some producers are going to start pulling corn this week. It is getting dry. Return to dry with very spotty showers has soil moisture falling. Most have gotten a second cutting of warm season hay in. DISTRICT 5 - CENTRAL We have gotten 0.37 of an inch of rainfall over the past seven days. The mornings have been cooler which have been pleasant. We have gotten several insect infestations. Still dry! Need rain! Everyone is waiting on the rain to return. Crops showing stress. Drought conditions prevailing. Soil moisture getting critically low. We are experiencing a moderate drought now. If no rain in a week, conditions will become severe. We need rain desperately. DISTRICT 6 - EAST CENTRAL Need water this week to save dry land crops. Many young/late-planted cotton and soybean fields need to put on growth. Northern corn blight firing up on corn but the ears had developed to the point we don't expect to treat it or have a yield reduction. Hot and dry. Some scattered showers. DISTRICT 7 - SOUTHWEST Caterpillars are damaging most crops. Rain is needed. Field corn harvest has begun. DISTRICT 8 - SOUTH CENTRAL This week has been rain free with good growing conditions for most of the county growers! We need the rains to continue for good productive crop season. DISTRICT 9 - SOUTHEAST No comments available.
