Received 2.20 inches of rain over the weekend. Received 3+ inches of rain has helped. Got well over 2 inches of rain last week. DISTRICT 2 - NORTH CENTRAL Much needed rain fell this week improving soil moisture conditions across the county. DISTRICT 3 - NORTHEAST Gentle rains helping to improve drought conditions. May be enough to stimulate the grass from dormancy for another hay cut. oil moisture still critically low. Widely scattered and light showers have not helped. DISTRICT 4 - WEST CENTRAL First reported armyworms came in last week and by the time they were discovered by the producer, his hayfield was almost a total loss. Rains couldn't have come at a better time this past week. Dry conditions have improved significantly. Showers most every day last week has greatly helped soil moisture conditions; soybeans beginning to bloom. DISTRICT 5 - CENTRAL We have been rather dry over the past 7 days. We did however receive 0.03 of an inch of rainfall so far on today. Welcome rains over the weekend! Amount received varied by where you were standing in the county. Some more, some less. Growers will pick back up on weed control in the coming week. DISTRICT 6 - EAST CENTRAL Most crops were showing stress from hot dry weather. Scattered showers have helped the situation. We are seeing a lot of cotton trying to "bloom out the top." Heat & dry weather combined with some pressure from lesser cornstalk borer has negatively impacted some peanuts trying to peg. Finally some scattered showers! DISTRICT 7 - SOUTHWEST Rains were received mid week. DISTRICT 8 - SOUTH CENTRAL Now we are in a drought. We need some rain because cotton and peanuts are at critical stage of putting on fruit. Irrigating crops and applying insecticides and foliar nutrients. Picking tobacco. This past week was very wet, field work was slow to none occurring the county! The crops really look good from all the rain fall! The hay farmers need some drying time on down hay fields. DISTRICT 9 - SOUTHEAST No comments available.
