Received 2 inches of rain last night. DISTRICT 2 - NORTH CENTRAL Received 2" of rain over night. A few downed trees around the county this morning. Strawberries are looking great - excellent yields. DISTRICT 3 - NORTHEAST No comments available. DISTRICT 4 - WEST CENTRAL Soil moisture continues to persist thanks to the rains we are receiving on a regular basis. However, there is some concern about flooding with the heavy thunderstorms predicted for our area in the next week. DISTRICT 5 - CENTRAL We have gotten a little bit of rainfall recently. We are still working to catch up on our spring planting. We have had several days where the temperature has dropped below 50 degrees. DISTRICT 6 - EAST CENTRAL No comments available. DISTRICT 7 - SOUTHWEST Soil moisture has been quite good as of late. Corn is coming along as expected and warmer soil and air temps have helped increased growth. Very little peanut planting has been done as some farmers are looking to get all crops in the ground and take advantage of the moisture. Earlier stands of cotton are progressing well considering the cool and dampness we have had. DISTRICT 8 - SOUTH CENTRAL Cool weather has slowed planting, but bedding and applying fertilizers. Some planting on higher and sandier soils. Replanting some tobacco. Side dressing tobacco and corn. Applying lime where needed. Next week we will be rolling with planting. Starting to harvest Highbush V-1 blueberries. The weather remain cool at night, our soil temperature need to improve over night (60-62F). The vegetable crop continue to grow well and growers like the possible ability of good Yields. The field working conditions remain good for planting spring crops. DISTRICT 9 - SOUTHEAST No comments available.
