DISTRICT 2 - NORTH CENTRAL Most hay fields were harvested this week, spotty isolated showers of rain fell across the county DISTRICT 3 - NORTHEAST No comments available. DISTRICT 4 - WEST CENTRAL Harvesting hay, soil prep and planting soybeans; enough scattered showers to keep soil moisture in good shape in most places. DISTRICT 5 - CENTRAL We have had a productive planting week. We did receive 1.46 inches of rainfall on May 21st. Planting continues. Scattered showers occurred during the week. Spraying for weeds in row crops continues. Haying has begun and yields are good. Corn looking the best in several years. Hay harvest in full swing this week. DISTRICT 6 - EAST CENTRAL I have not been in any wheat fields since Friday, but I suspect that after 4 days of cloudy, rainy weather that we will have some wheat that is sprouting. I will know later today. Got much needed rain Sunday and Monday (except for the airport - the official total). DISTRICT 7 - SOUTHWEST Need a rain to finish planting dry land crops. DISTRICT 8 - SOUTH CENTRAL Wrapping up planting. Irrigation of corn. Dry, we need some rainfall for the crops and recently planted seed. Applying fertilizers and herbicides. Cutting hay. Crop in general looks good. TSWV is showing up some in tobacco, <5%. A good rain over weekend which was badly needed. Pigweed control problems. This pass ten days have been very hot and dry. The temperature range 90-95 degrees, some days reached 98. This hot weather has dried out our top soil. We now need rain for the crops to continue developing on time. DISTRICT 9 - SOUTHEAST No comments available.
