DISTRICT 2 - NORTH CENTRAL No comments available. DISTRICT 3 - NORTHEAST No comments available. DISTRICT 4 - WEST CENTRAL Temperatures for the past 4-5 days have averaged 10 degrees above normal. Rain has been in the form of widely scattered afternoon thunderstorms. Very hot conditions for this past week have dried the soil moisture. Last of the wheat is in; need a rain. DISTRICT 5 - CENTRAL Very warm and humid conditions moved in this week. Spotty rains this week. Hay production and harvest in full swing. DISTRICT 6 - EAST CENTRAL Wheat was harvested pretty much same time as past years despite my estimate of it being behind in maturity. Yields were only fair and test weights were slightly below average. Had just enough ground moisture to finish planting in wheat stubble. Weather has turned slightly dry and very hot which will delay emergence of late- planted crops. Fast approaching for time to side-dress time cotton, first fungicide spray for peanuts. Found four fields with Northern Corn Leaf Blight between Wed. and Friday of last week and with such good yield potential, most growers will be spraying fungicide to protect their crop. With most pre-emerge at-plant herbicides being activated, we have very good weed control in all crops but did see quite a bit of minor damage from Valor and paraquat drift and residual Valor from improperly cleaned sprayers. DISTRICT 7 - SOUTHWEST Moisture is getting thin in some areas, we have not had much afternoon pop up showers the past few days. Corn is coming along fine, with some areas short on moisture it may hurt yields more than anticipated. DISTRICT 8 - SOUTH CENTRAL Herbicide carry over problems in some cotton. Crops look good. Applying suckercides and insecticides in tobacco. Peanuts look good. Cotton applying herbicides, side dress nitrogen on crops. Some fields need rainfall. Cutting hay. Some replanting of cotton that drowned. SOme tobacco drowned and scalded. Corn crop looks good but so far no diseases pressure. Had numerous fish kills in ponds last few weeks. Not sure exactly what is causing it. TSWV and mosaic disease in some fields. Insect pressure should be increasing in all crops. This past week has been very hot, temperatures 95 plus degrees!! This hot weather is causing some problems with vegetables, harvesting, sun burns and reproduction!! Also, we have concerns with corn production during this hot period in June.
