DISTRICT 2 - NORTH CENTRAL Army worms appeared. DISTRICT 3 - NORTHEAST Spotty thunder showers are hit and miss. Those that have gotten showers are in better shape than those that have not. DISTRICT 4 - WEST CENTRAL This part of the state has started seeing scattered rains in the afternoon after weeks of dry. Our temperatures are staying in the high 90's causing what moisture we see to dry up very quickly. Hot and dry. Just enough rain to help hold what soil moisture is there. Spotted cases of armyworms in bermuda and millet. Most crops remain good to fair condition. DISTRICT 5 - CENTRAL We are starting to experience the hottest period of the summer so far. We are starting to see the signs of stress in many of our crops. Recent rains have replenished soil moisture. Heat stress on livestock and farmers continues and even worsens as heat index reaches into triple digits every day. DISTRICT 6 - EAST CENTRAL Crop conditions are all over the board. Scattered showers have helped keep cotton, peanuts and hay fields moving along. Extreme heat has been tough on later planted soybeans and corn. The heat has also negatively affected cotton squares in some areas. The heat is taking its toll and we've turned dry after getting pretty good showers through the first week of July. With so much cotton being dry land, the heat and dry weather combination will probably result in boll loss. Peanuts seem to be doing very well with worms in scattered fields but good vine growth and pegging. No disease but growers are being warned about conditions favorable for white mold outbreak. MG V beans have reached the boron stage. Corn growers worried that hot nights may have decreased yield potential. Hot and Dry. DISTRICT 7 - SOUTHWEST Need a rain, Started harvesting corn at 25% moisture. It is extremely dry in the county in most areas. No rain since report last week. Heat index will hit 107 this week. Hot weather continued this past week and dry land crops were getting stressed. Insect pressure is increasing and some fields are being treated for this. DISTRICT 8 - SOUTH CENTRAL Hot and humid, picking tobacco. Spraying cotton with pix, boron, mang and for stinkbugs. SB populations increasing. Peanuts looking good. Cutting hay. Some growers excited about the Poultry Industry coming back soon. Some cotton fields in about peak bloom stage. This week has been a very dry hot 6-7 days for growers. DISTRICT 9 - SOUTHEAST No comments available.
