Received about 0.2 inches of rain over the weekend. DISTRICT 2 - NORTH CENTRAL Dry conditions affecting pastures. DISTRICT 3 - NORTHEAST No comments available. DISTRICT 4 - WEST CENTRAL Crops starting to suffer from lack of rainfall. Extremely dry conditions countywide; dryland crops suffering tremendously; armyworms Continue to attack forages. Dry. Hot, dry; armyworms continue; seed millet harvest underway; some hay put in. DISTRICT 5 - CENTRAL We have had our driest week in some time and the effects are highly noticeable. Still dry; scattered rain about .25 inch during the weekend; peanuts showing stress; haying continues; heat and dry weather impacting crops Fall Armyworms continue to have devastating effects on pasture and hayfields in county. Droughty conditions returning to our area. The heat is continuing as if it were still August. DISTRICT 6 - EAST CENTRAL Continued hot/dry weather for the last four weeks on 80% of the county has taken a toll on dry land beans and cotton with peanuts on a 'wait and see' basis. Defoliation and digging have begun and we should be well into picking and digging in another week. Cotton is either boll-locked from late Aug. showers, showing a lot of useless regrowth or is short and 90% open w/ "squinty-eyed bolls". Weather just didn't cooperate at this critical time for the crops. Leaves beginning to turn slightly in bean fields. DISTRICT 7 - SOUTHWEST Dry. Extremely dry. No showers. Heat index back into the 100's. A few days of lower temperatures and humidity was welcome back nowhere near enough to give our suffering crops much relief. Appears cotton and peanuts will be ready to pick and dig at the same time even though they were planted where this should not occur. DISTRICT 8 - SOUTH CENTRAL The high temperatures have return to south Georgia fields. This is good hay baling weather; white mold in peanuts is very high in most fields. A good rain would help the crops to finish-up strong in county. DISTRICT 9 - SOUTHEAST No comment available.
