DISTRICT 2 - NORTH CENTRAL No comments available. DISTRICT 3 - NORTHEAST Received five inches of rain between Sunday and Thursday. DISTRICT 4 - WEST CENTRAL Recent rains have helped tremendously. Rolled some hay, finished up millet harvest. 43 degrees this morning. Winter grasses would come on strong if we could get some rain. DISTRICT 5 - CENTRAL We received nearly 4 inches of rainfall this week. It breaks down to 2.94 inches and .69 inches over the past few days. Received 3 to 7 inches of rain in the county. DISTRICT 6 - EAST CENTRAL Rain stopped peanut digging and harvest until Friday or Saturday of this week when some digging started back. Once the digging resumes I don't expect peanut harvest to slow down any. Cotton that had been defoliated was hurt some by the rain. Got 2.5" of rain pretty much county-wide but an extra three days of cloudy, drizzly weather kept us out of the fields. Rain didn't knock cotton on the ground but cooler weather is going to make defoliation harder and a lot of potential bolls won't be able to mature/open. Dry land peanuts are disappointing and grading low. We're just now getting into irrigated peanuts. Some ryegrass, rye and oats can be planted but this moisture will leave the soil quickly. Irrigated soybeans look pretty good. Glad for the rain and the growers needed a break from plowing hard, dry peanut fields,.but the moisture was just too late to save peanut and cotton yields. Armyworms are back again in pastures. DISTRICT 7 - SOUTHWEST Received needed rain early this week. We will need more next week. Received 1.5-4 inches of rain throughout the county over last weekend has improved everything. Moderating temperatures and cloudy weather is delaying further peanut digging/harvest and cotton picking. Most farmers were anticipating cranking harvest up the end of the week, hopefully they still can. Peanut harvest is going strong due to recent rains. Some good yields and grades are being reported. Cooler weather is welcomed. Cotton harvest is going good but yields have been low as expected. DISTRICT 8 - SOUTH CENTRAL Got 2-4 inches on Sunday was okay then got 1-2 more with Tropical Depression on Tuesday. Delayed cotton harvest and defoliation. Delayed digging and picking peanuts and forcing some to reshake those dug before rainfall. Some peanuts needed rainfall to help mature. Others already stressed need digging ASAP but will be Sunday or Monday before they try. Cool nights will slow down and White Mold Disease is showing back up.... Theme: TOO MUCH TOO LATE FOR MOST. Weather today and forecast for next week looks excellent. Fall tomatoes coming in and mowing tobacco and cotton stalks were possible. DISTRICT 9 - SOUTHEAST No comments available.
