Kleweno E-mail: nass-ga@nass.usda.gov Director Website: http://www.nass.usda.gov/ga 706-546-2236 BROILERS PLACED IN GEORGIA UP 3 PERCENT BROILER EGGS SET UP 1 PERCENT Placement of broiler chicks in Georgia during the week ending March 31, 2007 was 28.9 million, down 1 percent from the previous week, but up 3 percent from the comparable week last year, according to the USDA, NASS, Georgia Field Office. An estimated 35.4 million broiler type eggs were set by Georgia hatcheries, down 1 percent from the previous week, but up 1 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Broiler-type chicks hatched during the week totaled 29.2 million, down slightly from the previous week, but up 2 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Average hatchability for chicks hatched in Georgia was 82 percent.
