Kleweno E-mail: nass-ga@nass.usda.gov Director Website: http://www.nass.usda.gov/ga 706-546-2236 BROILERS PLACED IN GEORGIA UP 8 PERCENT BROILER EGGS SET UP 3 PERCENT Placement of broiler chicks in Georgia during the week ending April 7, 2007 was 29.0 million, up slightly from the previous week and up 8 percent from the comparable week last year, according to the USDA, NASS, Georgia Field Office. An estimated 36.2 million broiler type eggs were set by Georgia hatcheries, up 2 percent from the previous week and up 3 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Broiler-type chicks hatched during the week totaled 29.3 million, up slightly from the previous week and up 5 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Average hatchability for chicks hatched in Georgia was 83 percent.
