Kleweno E-mail: nass-ga@nass.usda.gov Director Website: http://www.nass.usda.gov/ga 706-546-2236 BROILERS PLACED IN GEORGIA DOWN 10 PERCENT BROILER EGGS SET DOWN 13 PERCENT Placement of broiler chicks in Georgia during the week ending November 22, 2008 was 24.2 million, down 4 percent from the previous week and down 10 percent from the comparable week last year, according to the USDA, NASS, Georgia Field Office. An estimated 30.9 million broiler type eggs were set by Georgia hatcheries, down 1 percent from the previous week and down 13 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Broiler-type chicks hatched during the week totaled 23.7 million, down 5 percent from the previous week and down 12 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Average hatchability for chicks hatched in Georgia was 83 percent.
