2006 Illinois Cropland
Data Layer Information (CDL)
The 2006 Illinois Cropland Data Layer (CDL) was constructed from Indian Resourcesat-1 Advanced Wide Field Sensor (IRS AWiFS) imagery, courtesy of USDA Foreign Agricultural Service. The ground truth for this product utilized the NASS June Agricultural Survey (approximately 398 sq. miles derived from a stratified random Area Frame Survey).

The Cropland Data Layer was produced using PEDITOR software, modified supervised clustering (ISODATA), and maximum likelihood classifier. The CDL Atlas was created using ArcGIS software from the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI). Each page contains a separate Illinois county.
