Temperatures remained at or just above average for this time of year. The scattered rainfall prevented much progress from being made on wheat harvest and planting activities. Producers averaged 3.6 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture was rated 1 percent very short, 13 percent short, 65 percent adequate, and 21 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture was rated 1 percent very short, 10 percent short, 75 percent adequate, and 14 percent surplus. Field Crop Report: Ninety-two percent of the wheat has turned, compared to 97 percent for both last year and the 5- year average. Twenty-four percent of the wheat is ripe, compared to 82 percent last year and 58 percent for the 5-year average. Two percent has been harvested, compared to 48 percent last year and 19 percent for the 5-year average. Wheat condition was rated 15 percent very poor, 22 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 25 percent good, and 9 percent excellent. Insect infestation reports indicate 62 percent of the wheat showed no infestation, 27 percent showed light infestation, 9 percent showed moderate infestation, and 2 percent showed severe infestation. Disease infestation reports estimate 34 percent with no presence, 30 percent with light presence, 25 percent with moderate presence, and 11 percent with severe presence. Corn condition was rated 6 percent poor, 23 percent fair, 62 percent good, and 9 percent excellent. Eighty-one percent of the soybeans have been planted, compared to 92 percent last year and 87 percent for the 5-year average. Sixty-nine percent is emerged, compared to 85 percent last year and 78 percent for the 5-year average. Soybean condition was rated 3 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 58 percent good, and 5 percent excellent. Seventy-six percent of the sorghum has been planted, compared to 83 percent last year and 82 percent for the 5-year average. Fifty-one percent has emerged, compared to 62 percent last year and 65 percent for the 5-year average. Sorghum condition was rated 2 percent poor, 22 percent fair, 68 percent good, and 8 percent excellent. Ninety-three percent of the first cutting alfalfa has been harvested, compared to 100 percent last year and 99 percent for the 5-year average. Twenty percent of the second cutting alfalfa has been harvested, compared to 26 percent last year and 21 percent for the 5-year average. Seventy-five percent of the sunflowers have been planted, compared to 67 percent last year and 69 percent for the 5-year average. Thirty-nine percent have emerged, compared to 52 percent last year and 45 percent for the 5-year average. Ninety-nine percent of the cotton has been planted, compared to 89 percent last year and 85 percent for the 5-year average. Cotton condition was rated 10 percent poor, 35 percent fair, 45 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Feed Supplies Report: Range and pasture conditions were rated 2 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 26 percent fair, 51 percent good, and 14 percent excellent. Feed grain supplies were rated 3 percent very short, 14 percent short, 82 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus. Hay and forage supplies were rated 6 percent very short, 20 percent short, 72 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were rated 5 percent short, 82 percent adequate, and 13 percent surplus.
