Harvesting wheat and row crop planting were the primary activities where fields could be worked. Producers averaged 4.4 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture was rated 3 percent very short, 20 percent short, 54 percent adequate, and 23 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture was rated 1 percent very short, 16 percent short, 63 percent adequate, and 20 percent surplus. Field Crop Report: Ninety-nine percent of the wheat is ripe, the same as last year but one point ahead of the 5-year average. Fifty-nine percent has been harvested, compared to 93 percent last year and 82 percent for the 5-year average. Wheat condition was rated 17 percent very poor, 20 percent poor, 26 percent fair, 27 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Twenty-two percent of the corn has silked, compared to 29 percent last year and 23 percent for the 5-year average. Corn condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 23 percent fair, 57 percent good, and 14 percent excellent. Ninety-one percent of the soybeans have been planted, compared to 99 percent last year and 98 percent for the 5-year average. Eighty-five percent has emerged, compared to 94 percent last year and 93 percent for the 5-year average. Seven percent is blooming, compared to 14 percent last year and 11 percent for the 5-year average. Soybean condition was rated 5 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 57 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Ninety-four percent of the sorghum has been planted, compared to 97 percent last year and 96 percent for the 5-year average. Eighty-four percent has emerged, compared to 92 percent last year and 88 percent for the 5-year average. Sorghum condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 2 percent poor, 21 percent fair, 65 percent good, and 11 percent excellent. Forty-four percent of the second cutting alfalfa has been harvested, compared to 74 percent last year and 65 percent for the 5-year average. One percent of the third cutting alfalfa has been harvested. Ninety-four percent of the sunflowers have been planted, compared to 92 percent last year and 91 percent for the 5-year average. Sixty-three percent have emerged, compared to 84 percent last year and 77 percent for the 5-year average. Sunflower condition was rated 50 percent fair, 45 percent good, and 5 percent excellent. Ten percent of the cotton is squaring, compared to 21 percent last year and 12 percent for the 5-year average. Cotton condition was rated 5 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 15 percent excellent. Feed Supplies Report: Range and pasture conditions were rated 2 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 24 percent fair, 51 percent good, and 15 percent excellent. Feed grain supplies were rated 4 percent very short, 11 percent short, 84 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus. Hay and forage supplies were rated 5 percent very short, 18 percent short, 74 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were rated 6 percent short, 75 percent adequate, and 19 percent surplus.
