Producers averaged 6.2 days suitable for fieldwork. Ground preparations for fall planting and corn harvesting continued as the primary activities. Topsoil moisture was rated 10 percent very short, 38 percent short, 51 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture was rated 5 percent very short, 40 percent short, and 55 percent adequate. Field Crop Report: Ninety-three percent of the corn has dented, compared to 90 percent last year and 82 percent for the 5-year average. Forty percent is mature, compared to 51 percent last year and 41 percent for the 5-year average. Eight percent has been harvested, compared to 15 percent last year and 10 percent for the 5-year average. Corn condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 13 percent excellent. Ninety-four percent of the soybeans are setting pods, compared to 98 percent last year and 93 percent for the 5-year average. Seventeen percent is dropping leaves, compared to 13 percent last year and 14 percent for the 5-year average. Soybean condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 35 percent fair, 47 percent good, and 9 percent excellent. Sixty-three percent of the sorghum is coloring, compared to 52 percent last year and 51 percent for the 5-year average. Four percent is mature, compared to 9 percent for both last year and the 5-year average. Sorghum condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 52 percent good, and 15 percent excellent. Fifty-one percent of the fourth cutting alfalfa has been harvested, compared to 44 percent last year and 42 percent for the 5-year average. Forty-three percent of the sunflowers are in the ray flowers dry stage, compared to 44 percent last year and 53 percent for the 5-year average. Fifteen percent is in the bracts yellow stage, compared to 12 percent last year and 24 percent for the 5-year average. Sunflower condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 46 percent fair, 37 percent good, and 8 percent excellent. Cotton condition was rated 10 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Feed Supplies Report: Range and pasture conditions were rated 5 percent very poor, 14 percent poor, 32 percent fair, 43 percent good, and 6 percent excellent. Feed grain supplies were rated 2 percent very short, 11 percent short, and 87 percent adequate. Hay and forage supplies were rated 2 percent very short, 12 percent short, 82 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were rated 1 percent very short, 12 percent short, 85 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus.
