Producers averaged 5.2 days suitable for fieldwork. Wheat planting and alfalfa harvesting were the primary activities, though corn harvesting continued where conditions permitted. Topsoil moisture was rated 7 percent very short, 35 percent short, 57 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture was rated 3 percent very short, 43 percent short, and 54 percent adequate. Field Crop Report: Seventeen percent of the wheat has been planted, compared to 22 percent for last year and 26 percent for the 5-year average. Three percent has emerged, compared to 6 percent last year and 7 percent for the 5-year average. Ninety-three percent of the corn is mature, compared to 91 percent last year and 88 percent for the 5-year average. Thirty-nine percent has been harvested, compared to 40 percent for both last year and the 5-year average. Corn condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 9 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 48 percent good, and 13 percent excellent. Sixty percent of the soybeans are dropping leaves, compared to 61 percent last year and 64 percent for the 5-year average. Two percent has been harvested, the same as last year but five points behind the 5-year average. Soybean condition was rated 8 percent poor, 30 percent fair, 49 percent good, and 13 percent excellent. Ninety-six percent of the sorghum is coloring, compared to 83 percent last year and 86 percent for the 5-year average. Forty percent is mature, four points ahead of last year but the same as the 5-year average. Five percent has been harvested, compared to 13 percent for both last year and the 5-year average. Sorghum condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 18 percent excellent. Seventy-three percent of the fourth cutting alfalfa has been harvested, compared to 64 percent last year and 70 percent for the 5-year average. Seventy-four percent of the sunflowers are in the ray flowers dry stage, compared to 80 percent last year and 87 percent for the 5-year average. Sixty-eight percent is in the bracts yellow stage, compared to 71 percent last year and 73 percent for the 5-year average. Twenty-eight percent is in the mature dry down stage, compared to 23 percent last year and 30 percent for the 5-year average. One percent has been harvested, compared to 3 percent last year and 8 percent for the 5-year average. Sunflower condition was rated 3 percent poor, 60 percent fair, 30 percent good, and 7 percent excellent. Sixteen percent of the cotton is in the bolls open stage, compared to 22 percent last year and 33 percent for the 5-year average. Cotton condition was rated 15 percent poor, 35 percent fair, 45 percent good, and 5 percent excellent. Feed Supplies Report: Range and pasture conditions were rated 3 percent very poor, 16 percent poor, 32 percent fair, 43 percent good, and 6 percent excellent. Feed grain supplies were rated 1 percent very short, 11 percent short, and 88 percent adequate. Hay and forage supplies were rated 1 percent very short, 13 percent short, 82 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were rated 1 percent very short, 12 percent short, 84 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus. Reporter comments indicated some calves are being weaned.
