Fall harvesting of cotton, sunflowers, and sorghum were the primary activities across the State. Reports of dry conditions having negative effects on the wheat crop reported state wide. Topsoil moisture was rated 20 percent very short, 44 percent short, and 36 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture was rated 15 percent very short, 35 percent short, and 50 percent adequate. Field Crop Report: Ninety-one percent of the wheat has emerged, compared to 97 percent for 2006 crop year and 95 percent for the 5-year average. Five percent of the winter wheat has been pastured. Winter wheat condition was rated at 5 percent very poor, 18 percent poor, 37 percent fair, 37 percent good, and 3 percent excellent. Ninety-seven percent of the sorghum has been harvested, compared to 90 percent last year and 88 percent for the 5-year average. Sixty-five percent of the cotton has been harvested, compared to 47 percent last year and 40 percent for the 5-year average. Feed Supplies Report: Range and pasture conditions were rated 8 percent very poor, 16 percent poor, 37 percent fair, 36 percent good, and 3 percent excellent. Feed grain supplies were rated 2 percent very short, 4 percent short, 87 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus. Hay and forage supplies were rated 3 percent very short, 8 percent short, 83 percent adequate, and 6 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were rated 4 percent very short, 17 percent short, 78 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus.
