Producers averaged 5.8 days suitable for field work. Topsoil moisture is rated as 3 percent short, 88 percent adequate, and 9 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture is rated as 1 percent very short, 9 percent short, 87 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus. Primary farm activities involved planting wheat, and harvesting corn, soybeans, sorghum, cotton, and sunflowers. Field Crop Report: Ninety-one percent of the wheat has been planted, compared to 95 percent in 2007 and 96 percent for the 5-year average. Eighty-two percent has emerged, ahead of the 77 percent for the previous year but the same as the 5-year average. Wheat condition is rated as 3 percent poor, 24 percent fair, 61 percent good, and 12 percent excellent. Seventy-one percent of the corn has been harvested, compared to 95 percent for last year and 93 percent for the 5-year average. Ninety percent of the sorghum is mature, compared to 99 percent last year and 96 percent for the 5-year average. Thirty-nine percent has been harvested, compared to 77 percent last year and 67 percent for the 5-year average. Sorghum condition is rated as 1 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 51 percent good, and 11 percent excellent. Seventy-two percent of the soybeans has been harvested, compared to 82 percent last year and 81 percent for the 5-year average. Two percent of the cotton has been harvested, compared to 35 percent last year and 17 percent for the 5-year average. Cotton condition is rated as 5 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Ninety percent of the sunflowers are mature, compared to 100 percent for last year and 96 for the 5-year average. Forty percent has been harvested, compared to 64 percent in 2007 and 66 percent for the 5-year average. Sunflower condition is rated as 5 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 54 percent good, and 12 percent excellent. Feed Supplies Report: Range and pasture conditions were rated as 4 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 7 percent excellent. Feed grain supplies were rated as 3 percent very short, 5 percent short, 84 percent adequate, and 8 percent surplus. Hay and forage supplies were rated as 1 percent very short, 8 percent short, 82 percent adequate, and 9 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were estimated as 2 percent short, 93 percent adequate, and 5 percent surplus.
