Producers across the State averaged 5.6 days suitable for field work. Topsoil moisture is rated as 1 percent very short, 5 percent short, 84 percent adequate, and 10 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture is rated as 1 percent very short, 7 percent short, 88 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus. Primary farm activities involved planting wheat, and harvesting corn, soybeans, sorghum, cotton, and sunflowers. Field Crop Report: Ninety-five percent of the wheat has been planted, compared to 99 percent in 2007 and 98 percent for the 5-year average. Eighty-seven percent has emerged, compared to 84 percent for the previous year and 88 percent for the 5-year average. Wheat condition is rated as 4 percent poor, 18 percent fair, 65 percent good, and 13 percent excellent. Eighty-one percent of the corn has been harvested, compared to 99 percent for last year and 97 percent for the 5-year average. Ninety-six percent of the sorghum is mature, compared to 100 percent last year and 98 percent for the 5-year average. Fifty-nine percent has been harvested, compared to 88 percent last year and 80 percent for the 5- year average. Eighty-four percent of the soybeans have been harvested, compared to 93 percent last year and 89 percent for the 5-year average. Ten percent of the cotton has been harvested, compared to 52 percent last year and 27 percent for the 5-year average. Cotton condition is rated as 5 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Sixty-one percent of the sunflowers have been harvested, compared to 88 percent last year and 82 percent for the 5-year average. Feed Supplies Report: Range and pasture conditions were rated as 2 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 52 percent good, and 8 percent excellent. Feed grain supplies were rated as 3 percent very short, 5 percent short, 81 percent adequate, and 11 percent surplus. Hay and forage supplies were rated as 6 percent short, 82 percent adequate, and 12 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were estimated as 2 percent short, 92 percent adequate, and 6 percent surplus.
