Producers across the State averaged 3.6 days suitable for field work. Topsoil moisture is rated as 3 percent short, 81 percent adequate, and 16 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture is rated as 1 percent very short, 8 percent short, 87 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus. Primary farm activities included harvesting corn, soybeans, sorghum, cotton, and sunflowers. Field Crop Report: Ninety-seven percent of the wheat has been planted, compared to 100 percent in 2007 and 99 percent for the 5-year average. Ninety-one percent has emerged, compared to 90 percent for the previous year and 93 percent for the 5-year average. Wheat condition is rated as 2 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 22 percent fair, 60 percent good, and 11 percent excellent. Eighty-seven percent of the corn has been harvested, compared to 100 percent for last year and 98 percent for the 5-year average. Seventy-three percent of the sorghum has been harvested, compared to 95 percent last year and 89 percent for the 5-year average. Eighty-eight percent of the soybeans have been harvested, compared to 99 percent last year and 95 percent for the 5-year average. Eighteen percent of the cotton has been harvested, compared to 62 percent last year and 41 percent for the 5-year average. Cotton condition is rated as 5 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 30 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Seventy percent of the sunflowers have been harvested, compared to 99 percent last year and 90 percent for the 5-year average. Feed Supplies Report: Range and pasture conditions were rated as 5 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 49 percent good, and 8 percent excellent. Feed grain supplies were rated as 2 percent very short, 4 percent short, 85 percent adequate, and 9 percent surplus. Hay and forage supplies were rated as 1 percent very short, 5 percent short, 82 percent adequate, and 12 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were estimated as 2 percent short, 94 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus.
