Producers averaged 3.4 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture is rated as 5 percent very short, 14 percent short, 55 percent adequate, and 26 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture is rated as 3 percent very short, 17 percent short, 68 percent adequate, and 12 percent surplus. Field work has again been limited this past week. Field Crop Report: Thirty-seven percent of the wheat has jointed, compared to 22 percent last year, and 52 percent for the 5-year average. The wheat condition is rated as 4 percent very poor, 15 percent poor, 44 percent fair, 33 percent good, and 4 percent excellent. Wind damage to wheat has been rated at 67 percent with no damage, 24 percent with light damage, 8 percent with moderate damage, and 1 percent with severe damage. Freeze damage has been rated at 51 percent with no damage, 35 percent with light damage, 11 percent with moderate damage, and 3 percent with severe freeze damage. Insect infestation of the wheat crop is rated at 83 percent none, 14 percent light, 2 percent moderate, and 1 percent severe. Disease infestation is rated at 83 percent none, 15 percent light, and 2 percent moderate. Oats planting is 97 percent complete, compared to 92 percent in 2008, and 81 percent for the 5-year average. Feed Supplies Report: Range and pasture condition is rated as 5 percent very poor, 16 percent poor, 37 percent fair, 38 percent good, and 4 percent excellent. Feed grain supplies were rated as 7 percent short, 91 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. Hay and forage supplies were rated as 1 percent very short, 12 percent short, 79 percent adequate, and 8 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were estimated as 1 percent very short, 10 percent short, 79 percent adequate, and 10 percent surplus.
