Producers averaged 1.7 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture is rated as 1 percent very short, 6 percent short, 68 percent adequate, and 25 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture is rated as 1 percent very short, 12 percent short, 73 percent adequate, and 14 percent surplus. Moisture has again limited fieldwork for the previous week. Field Crop Report: Fifty-four percent of the wheat has jointed, compared to 38 percent last year, and 69 percent for the 5-year average. The wheat condition is rated as 4 percent very poor, 12 percent poor, 40 percent fair, 40 percent good, and 4 percent excellent. Wind damage to wheat has been rated at 67 percent with no damage, 26 percent with light damage, 6 percent with moderate damage, and 1 percent with severe damage. Freeze damage has been rated at 58 percent with no damage, 29 percent with light damage, 10 percent with moderate damage, and 3 percent with severe freeze damage. Insect infestation of the wheat crop is rated at 83 percent none, 14 percent light, 2 percent moderate, and 1 percent severe. Disease infestation is rated at 80 percent none, 17 percent light, and 3 percent moderate. Eight percent of the Corn has been planted, compared to 5 percent last year and 23 percent for the 5-year average. Oats planting is 98 percent complete, compared to 95 percent in 2008, and 88 percent for the 5-year average. Feed Supplies Report: Range and pasture condition is rated as 5 percent very poor, 12 percent poor, 36 percent fair, 43 percent good, and 4 percent excellent. Feed grain supplies were rated as 7 percent short, 91 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. Hay and forage supplies were rated as 11 percent short, 82 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were estimated as 8 percent short, 80 percent adequate, and 12 percent surplus.
