Producers averaged 2.5 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture is rated as 3 percent short, 55 percent adequate, and 42 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture is rated as 7 percent short, 66 percent adequate, and 27 percent surplus. Moisture has been limiting field work for the past several weeks. Field Crop Report: Ninety-five percent of the wheat has jointed, compared to 89 percent last year, and 97 percent for the 5-year average. Thirty-two percent of the crop has headed compared to 17 percent last year and 49 percent for the 5-year average. The wheat condition is rated as 3 percent very poor, 9 percent poor, 37 percent fair, 43 percent good, and 8 percent excellent. Insect infestation of the wheat crop is rated as 81 percent none, 16 percent light, 2 percent moderate, and 1 percent severe. Disease infestation is rated as 71 percent none, 23 percent light, and 6 percent moderate. Forty-eight percent of the corn has been planted, compared to 62 percent last year and 76 percent for the 5-year average. Nineteen percent of the corn has emerged, compared to 20 percent last year and 37 percent for the 5-year average. Four percent of soybeans have been planted, same as the previous year and 12 percent for the 5-year average. Feed Supplies Report: Range and pasture condition is rated as 2 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 52 percent good, and 11 percent excellent. Feed grain supplies were rated as 5 percent short, 93 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. Hay and forage supplies were rated as 1 percent very short, 6 percent short, 86 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were estimated as 4 percent short, 74 percent adequate, and 22 percent surplus. Livestock activities include moving cattle to pasture.
