Producers averaged 5.1 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture is rated as 3 percent very short, 21 percent short, 71 percent adequate, and 5 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture is rated as 2 percent very short, 14 percent short, 77 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus. Fieldwork activities included cutting alfalfa, planting row crops, and spraying pesticides. Field Crop Report: Ninety-nine percent of the wheat is headed, compared to 93 percent last year and 98 percent for the 5-year average. Ten percent is turning color, compared to 12 percent last year and 39 percent for the 5-year average. The wheat condition is rated as 8 percent very poor, 12 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 39 percent good, and 7 percent excellent. Insect infestation of the wheat crop is rated as 75 percent none, 20 percent light, 4 percent moderate, and 1 percent severe. Disease infestation is rated as 56 percent none, 30 percent light, 11 percent moderate and 3 percent severe. Ninety-seven percent of the corn has been planted, same as the previous year and 98 percent for the 5-year average. Eighty-five percent has emerged, compared to 83 percent last year and 89 percent for the 5-year average. Corn condition is rated as 1 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 11 percent excellent. Thirty-two percent of the sorghum has been planted, compared to 28 percent the previous year and 40 percent for the 5- year average. Eight percent has emerged, compared to 13 percent for the previous year and 19 percent for the 5-year average. Sixty-two percent of soybeans have been planted, compared to 52 percent last year and 63 percent for the 5- year average. Thirty-one percent have emerged, same as the previous year, but 6 points behind the 5-year average of 37 percent. Soybean condition is rated as 1 percent very poor, 2 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 66 percent good, and 4 percent excellent. Twenty-four percent of the sunflowers have been planted, compared to 12 percent last year and 25 percent for the 5-year average. Sixty-two percent of the cotton is planted, compared to 55 percent the previous year and 50 percent for the 5-year average. Seventy-four percent of the first cutting of alfalfa has been completed, compared to 70 percent the previous year and 74 percent for the 5-year average. Feed Supplies Report: Range and pasture condition is rated as 2 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 56 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Feed grain supplies were rated as 1 percent very short, 6 percent short, 90 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus. Hay and forage supplies were rated as 6 percent short, 87 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were estimated as 2 percent very short, 5 percent short, 84 percent adequate, and 9 percent surplus. Livestock situations are normal.
