Producers averaged 5.4 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture is rated as 2 percent very short, 22 percent short, 73 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture is rated as 2 percent very short, 16 percent short, 78 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus. Fieldwork activities included cutting alfalfa, and planting row crops. Field Crop Report: Fifty-five percent of the wheat is turning color, compared to 38 percent last year and 68 percent for the 5-year average. Two percent is considered ripe for harvest, compared to 5 percent last year and 15 percent for the 5- year average. The wheat condition is rated as 5 percent very poor, 12 percent poor, 35 percent fair, 41 percent good, and 7 percent excellent. Insect infestation of the wheat crop is rated as 73 percent none, 23 percent light, 3 percent moderate, and 1 percent severe. Disease infestation is rated as 50 percent none, 34 percent light, 14 percent moderate, and 2 percent severe. Ninety-five percent of the corn has emerged, compared to 94 percent last year and 97 percent for the 5- year average. Corn condition is rated as 1 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 30 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 13 percent excellent. Sixty-one percent of the sorghum has been planted, compared to 38 percent the previous year and 57 percent for the 5-year average. Twenty-six percent has emerged, compared to 18 percent for the previous year and 34 percent for the 5-year average. Sorghum condition is rated as 2 percent poor, 19 percent fair, 74 percent good, and 5 percent excellent. Seventy-three percent of soybeans have been planted, compared to 60 percent last year and 74 percent for the 5-year average. Fifty percent have emerged, compared to 46 percent the previous year and 56 percent for the 5-year average. Soybean condition is rated as 2 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 64 percent good, and 7 percent excellent. Thirty percent of the sunflowers have been planted, the same as the previous year but 10 points behind the 5- year average of 40 percent. Twelve percent have emerged, compared to 7 percent the previous year and 19 percent for the 5-year average. Seventy-seven percent of the cotton is planted, compared to 86 percent the previous year and 68 percent for the 5-year average. Eighty-eight percent of the first cutting of alfalfa has been completed, compared to 80 percent the previous year and 87 percent for the 5-year average. Feed Supplies Report: Range and pasture condition is rated as 2 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 59 percent good, and 9 percent excellent. Feed grain supplies were rated as 7 percent short, 92 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus. Hay and forage supplies were rated as 7 percent short, 86 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were estimated as 6 percent short, 87 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus.
