Producers averaged 2.9 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture is rated as 1 percent very short, 10 percent short, 77 percent adequate, and 12 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture is rated as 2 percent very short, 9 percent short, 86 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus. Fieldwork activities included cutting alfalfa, pesticide applications, and planting row crops. Field Crop Report: Eighty percent of the wheat is turning color, compared to 69 percent last year and 87 percent for the 5-year average. Nine percent is considered ripe for harvest, compared to 12 percent last year and 41 percent for the 5- year average. The wheat condition is rated as 5 percent very poor, 14 percent poor, 32 percent fair, 42 percent good, and 7 percent excellent. Insect infestation of the wheat crop is rated as 71 percent none, 24 percent light, 4 percent moderate, and 1 percent severe. Disease infestation is rated as 44 percent none, 36 percent light, 17 percent moderate, and 3 percent severe. Corn condition is rated as 2 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 16 percent excellent. Seventy-three percent of the sorghum has been planted, compared to 57 percent the previous year and 72 percent for the 5-year average. Forty-nine percent has emerged, compared to 32 percent for the previous year and 50 percent for the 5-year average. Sorghum condition is rated as 3 percent poor, 17 percent fair, 76 percent good, and 4 percent excellent. Eighty-two percent of soybeans have been planted, compared to 69 percent last year and 81 percent for the 5-year average. Seventy percent have emerged, compared to 57 percent the previous year and the same as the 5-year average. Soybean condition is rated as 1 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 23 percent fair, 65 percent good, and 8 percent excellent. Forty-six percent of the sunflowers have been planted, compared to 52 percent the previous year and 60 percent for the 5-year average. Twenty-two percent have emerged, compared to 19 percent the previous year and 34 percent for the 5-year average. Sunflower condition is rated 3 percent very poor, 1 percent poor, 10 percent fair, 81 percent good, and 5 percent excellent. Eighty-four percent of the cotton is planted, compared to 97 percent the previous year and the same as the 5-year average. Cotton condition is rated as 2 percent poor, 16 percent fair, 58 percent good, and 24 percent excellent. Ninety-five percent of the first cutting of alfalfa has been completed, compared to 89 percent the previous year and the same as the 5-year average. Feed Supplies Report: Range and pasture condition is rated as 2 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 22 percent fair, 60 percent good, and 13 percent excellent. Feed grain supplies were rated as 1 percent very short, 4 percent short, 93 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. Hay and forage supplies were rated as 1 percent very short, 5 percent short, 87 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus. Stock water supplies were estimated as 2 percent very short, 3 percent short, 90 percent adequate, and 5 percent surplus.
