2002 Cash Receipts

Cash receipts from 2002 farm marketings in Kansas were $7.86 billion, down 1 percent from 2001. Livestock receipts decreased 3 percent, accounting for 68 percent of all receipts. Crop receipts increased 3 percent, accounting for the remaining 32 percent. Gross income per Kansas farm, prior to inventory adjustment, decreased 7 percent from 2001's level. Net income per farm, after inventory adjustment, averaged $5,822 in 2002, down $12,504 from the year earlier. Total State production expenses decreased 6 percent for the year. Total direct government payments were off 58 percent for the year. See detailed data in the accompanying tables.
