EXPENSES
Cash receipts from 2004 farm marketings in Kansas were $9.50 billion, up 4 percent from 2003. Livestock receipts increased 4 percent, accounting for 68 percent of all receipts. Crop receipts also increased 4 percent, accounting for the remaining 32 percent. Total direct government payments were down 20 percent for the year. Gross income per Kansas farm, prior to inventory adjustment, increased 2 percent from 2003's level. Total production expenses increased 7 percent for the year. Net income per farm, after inventory adjustment, averaged $22,734 in 2004, down $7,640 from the year earlier. See detailed data in the accompanying tables.
