The All Crops Index in February, at 167 percent of the 1990-92 base, is down 15 points from January and down 87 points from 2008. The Meat Animals Index, at 108 percent of the 1990-92 base, is unchanged from January but 11 points below last year. More detailed information regarding price indexes is shown in the first table on the back of this release. Wheat prices in mid-February, at $5.04 per bushel, is down 75 cents from January and down $5.26 from last February. Corn prices in mid-February, at $3.90 per bushel, is down 24 cents from January and 96 cents below last February. Farmers received an average of $4.90 per cwt. for sorghum grain in mid- February, down 50 cents from January and $3.57 below last February. Soybean prices, at $8.89 per bushel in mid-February, is down 49 cents from January and $3.21 below last February. All hay prices averaged $108.00 per ton in mid-February, down $6.00 from January but $16.00 higher than last year. Alfalfa hay averaged $121.00 per ton, down $11.00 from January but $18.00 higher than last February. Other hay, at $78.00 per ton, is down $4.00 from January but $4.00 above last February. All beef cattle is bringing an average of $83.40 per cwt. in mid-February, up 30 cents from January but $9.00 below the price from last February. Cow prices, at $46.20 per cwt., is up $2.20 from January but $6.70 below the price from last February. Steers and heifers averaged $84.50 per cwt., down 20 cents from January and $9.10 below February 2008. Calf prices in mid- February is $114.00 per cwt., up $1.00 from January but down $12.00 from February 2008. The all hog price of $39.20 per cwt. for mid-February is up 60 cents from January and up $2.60 from last February. Sow prices averaged $45.60, down 80 cents from January but $21.30 higher than February 2008. Barrow and gilt prices averaged $38.20 per cwt. in mid-February, up 80 cents from January but 20 cents below last February. Grain and oilseed prices by district are shown in the second table on the back of this release. UNITED STATES: The All Farm Products Index of Prices Received in February is 127 percent of the 1990-92 base, down 12 points from January and 19 points below February 2008. The February All Crops Index is 148, down 12 points from January and 16 points below February 2008. The February Livestock and Products Index, at 109, is down 5 points from last month and down 22 points from February 2008.
