Corn planting was completed and corn emerged reached 96 percent. Cotton and soybean planting continued, behind last year and the average. Rice producers continued planting while applying herbicides and fertilizers. Sugarcane was progressing well and producers were cultivating fields and controlling weeds. Fruits, Vegetables and Specialty Crops Vegetable producers continued working field crops, with reports of slow growth due to the cool nights. Citrus farmers were spraying for insects and disease. Some crawfish producers were beginning to drain ponds while others continued to fish. Livestock, Pasture and Range Report Pasture conditions showed improvement due to the recent rain and mild weather. Hay producers were cutting hay and fertilizing meadows. Spring calving was winding down and spring cattle work was being conducted.
