Field Crops Report Wheat harvest benefited from warmer weather and drier conditions. Cotton looked ragged due to slow growth from cool weather at planting and subsequent thrip injury. Rice conditions improved as the temperatures warmed up. Rice producers made insecticide and herbicide applications.. Soybean producers applied herbicides. Sugarcane producers fertilized their fields. Fruits, Vegetables, and Specialty Crops Report Warmer weather increased insect pressure on garden crops. Vegetable producers sold produce. Crawfish production decreased, and farmers drained ponds. Livestock, Pasture, and Range Report Many producers cut hay. Pastures showed improvement with the additional rainfall. Cattlemen continued to work calves.
