There were reports of increasing disease pressure in rice. Rice producers were spraying fungicides. Several fields were sprayed for borers, as they have been very active and conditions were favorable for their development. Some soybean producers were applying herbicides, insecticides and fungicides, but many fields were too wet. Soybean producers were still planting in order to have all of their soybean acres in production to take advantage of high prices. Sugarcane was doing well due to the warm weather and increased moisture. Fruits, Vegetables and Specialty Crops Vegetable producers were busy harvesting and selling produce. The peach harvest reached 41 percent complete, slightly ahead of the 5-year average. Livestock, Pasture and Range Report Pasture conditions were favorable due to the moisture and warm weather. The first cutting of hay reached 90 percent, slightly ahead of the 5-year average. Some hay producers began the second cutting of hay.
