Field Crops Report Most early-planted rice was in boot stage, and some of the very early-planted rice has headed out. Rice producers applied fungicide applications to their fields. The late-planted rice received herbicide and fertilizer applications. Late weed emergence has occurred with emergence of red rice, fall panicum and spangletop in rice fields. Young soybeans were started to look good after receiving rain. Stinkbugs and worms have been reported in some soybean fields. Sugarcane growth has improved with additional rainfall. Some farmers have made reports of sheath blight in sugarcane fields, and additional fungicide applications were made to combat this problem. Some reports of rust in sugarcane fields, but it was not a major problem. Fruits, Vegetables, and Specialty Crops Report Vegetable producers sold summer crops. Citrus producers scouted for insects. Livestock, Pasture, and Range Report Pasture and livestock conditions improved with additional rainfall. First cutting hay was almost completed, and some farmers have harvested a second cutting of hay.
