Early planted rice started to flower. Fifty-four percent of soybeans were at the bloom stage, while thirty-six percent had set pods. Sixty percent of the corn was at the dough stage, slightly ahead of the five year average of 49%. Fifty-one percent of sorghum had headed, above of the five year average of 44%. Sugarcane producers continued to scout for borers. Eighty-four percent of the cotton crop was at the squaring stage, above the five year average of 81%; 9% of the cotton had set bolls, slightly below the five year average of 18%. Fruits, Vegetables, and Specialty Crops Report Producers harvested vegetables. Crawfish producers prepared ponds for rice planting. Livestock, Pasture, and Range Report Pastures and hay fields continued to show slow growth due to inadequate moisture levels. Eight percent of producers had completed a second cutting of hay. Cattlemen fed hay and marketed calves.
