Soybean producers were concerned that the rain might damage maturing beans. Soybeans were also being sprayed for stink bugs and velvet bean caterpillars. Some wheat producers were busy preparing land for planting. Showers slowed sugarcane planting, but planting progress was equal to the five-year average. Corn harvest reached 80% complete, slightly behind the five-year average. There were reports that harvest was slowed due to lack of transportation and storage capacity. Rice producers were also busy harvesting, with 75% of the harvest completed. Fruits, Vegetables and Specialty Crops Vegetable producers were working fall crops. Crawfish producers were busy planting rice and sweet sorghum in preparation for flooding. Citrus producers were spraying for insects. Livestock, Pasture and Range Report Cattlemen were busy fertilizing pastures. Cattle producers continued to wean and market calves. There were reports of army worms attacking hay meadows.
