Sweet potato producers were harvesting. Soybean producers were scouting their fields for stinkbugs. Some soybean growers were spraying defoliant, while many others were already busy harvesting. Some soybean producers who have harvested reported above normal disease and insect damage, but yields were still in the 40-50 bushels per acre range in many areas. Corn and rice harvests were nearing completion. Cotton producers were harvesting, but the harvest was well behind the 5-year average. Sugarcane producers were getting their equipment ready for harvest. Fruits, Vegetables and Specialty Crops Vegetable producers continued working fall crops. Crawfish producers were flooding their ponds for the new crawfish season. Livestock, Pasture and Range Report Drier weather conditions allowed the second cutting of hay to near completion. Livestock conditions remained good.
